"Break a Leg"
Some speculate this saying came from the days of Shakespeare, when the groundlings would show their appreciation for a performance by tossing produce onto the stage. If an actor slipped and literally or figuratively “broke a leg” it was indicative of great popularity. Most actors feel it is good luck to offer others this salutation. That is, unless, you have broken a leg. Or both at the same time… Becca missed a step on her apartment staircase and wound up with both legs broken a month before going to London to audition for training schools. With the help of her husband, she flew to London in a wheelchair with casts to both knees, and did 5 auditions in 6 days for some of the top schools in the UK, including Central School of Speech and Drama and BADA, and was accepted into all 5 programs. Becca spent six months unable to walk, attended BADA in air casts, and was off stage a total of 16 months. But she finished earning her Equity card during that time as a Stage Manager, and in her first show back on stage, Nunsense, she tap danced.
